Who should Buffy choose?6189 Votes
Description:Issue:    Alright I made a campaign a few weeks ago hoping to get people behind a Buffy movie. I have been very pleased with the amount of new members and their comments. In thinking about a possible new movie one question keeps coming up. Should Buffy ultimately end up with Angel or Spike? Belief:           I believe that if they do make a Whedonverse movie to tie up the loose ends of the plots of Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that Buffy should choose once and for all which vampire she loves the most.            For anyone who isn’t familiar with this love triangle here is the most objective synopsis I can give. Angel was Buffy’s first love. He was her guide and protector in Sunny Dale until they had sex and he lost his soul turning into the evil Angelus. Then he tormented her for a season until he got his soul back just before she had to send him too hell. He, of course, got out of hell but had to bail because he got his own series set in Los Angeles. In one of the early episodes of Angel he gets some demon blood in a cut on his hand and is turned human. Buffy happens to be in Los Angeles at the time and it looks like they can now be together because his curse is truly lifted. Unfortunately, he is a champion that knows his job is not yet complete so he goes to an oracle that reverses time and Buffy has no knowledge of the one amazing day they had together.   In one of the final episodes of Buffy she does insinuate that they could be together someday.            Spike arrived on the scene in the season two premiere of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He looks and talks like Billy Idol and has very heavy influence from Luke Perry’s character, Pike, in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie starring Kristi Swanson. His character was actually on the show much longer than Angel’s though evil for much longer. In season 4 the military puts a chip in his head that shocks him if he tries to hurt humans. He then discovers he can hurt Demons and becomes a pseudo good guy at the same time falling in love with Buffy even though he kind hates her too. At the end of season six he goes to some sort of demon shaman and goes through trials and torture to get his soul back. He and Buffy also had tons of sex because Spike was all about her and she was kind of tweaked out on account of the fact that she died went to heaven and was ripped back to earth by a magic spell. But that is another story.            So Whedon tried to tie this up by having Spike and Angel go to Italy only to find that Buffy was dating some immortal guy called “the immortal.â€Â I personally thought this was lame because you don’t see Buffy. I think Sara Michelle Gellar had other obligations at the time.            So I think the fans should decide. If you think Buffy should be with her first love and you still remember that song that they used to play when they were together then vote for the Vampire with a soul who helps the helpless Angel. If you feel that Buffy and Spike’s relationship was better developed in the plot and that he was more true to her because he sought out his soul and ended up later sacrificing himself to save the world then vote for the witty British rock star Vamp William the Bloody, aka Spike. From the moment Spike realized he was really in love with Buffy, he was always there for her. She rejected him several times, but still he stayed. He even stayed with the group after Buffy's death and looked after Dawn, in order to keep his promise to Buffy. He certainly didn't have to do that, and he did what Angel didn't do. In reality we know Angel had to exit BtVS in order start his own series, but putting reality aside and returning to the Buffyverse, he simply left. And Buffy let him go. Neither fought to stay with the other. I can appreciate they were in extraordinary circumstances with his curse and all, but if they truly felt they were the ones for each other, they would have found a way to make their situation work.
Furthermore, there were times Angel returned, yet Buffy still sent him away. He came back to help her through her mother's death for as long as she needed, but she sent him back home that night. She did the same when he returned to fight the First with her. On the other hand, when Spike wanted to leave town when he was worried about the First's hold over him and what kind of damage he might unknowingly do, Buffy wouldn't let him leave. She believed in him.
We all know Buffy and Angel loved each other, and it was passionate. But she was still a teenager and still had a lot to learn about herself and what was truly best for her. Spike was there to watch her grow up. He seen her at her worst and grow to become that "hell of a woman" he believed her to be. And she did love him, probably more than she realized. I think she began to love him after he told her about his soul and he hung smoking on the cross (her tears said it all), but because of their complicated past it took her longer to admit it to herself.
So, put the two ensouled vampires in front of her, and I truly believe she would choose Spike. In the episode "End of Days" when they were talking at the door, Buffy started to say "maybe when..." and Spike cut her off to say they should go be heroes. I believe she was going to tell him that when the war with the First was over and if they survived that she was ready to have a real relationship with him, now that they had established an emotional closeness and true respect for one another (elements that always lacked between them).
There you have it, my very long version of simply saying she should be with Spike. :)
On a side note, I don't dislike Angel at all. I really do love his character and HATE when people bash him and say he is too mopey and boring, etc. I actually like him on his own series a lot better than on BtVS. His character definitely develops and grows on Angel. He even acquires a sense of humor. :) Angel is second only to BtVS as my favorite show of all time.

okay i want buffy to end up with angel because he actually loves and cares about buffy. spike just doent understand peoples feelings. he doesnt kill because they put a chip in his head and i dont think he wuld do ANYTHING for buffy but angel would!!!<3
angel is a hell of a lot cuter,nicer and sexier than spike and he actually makes buffy happy.plus spikes only reason he doesn't kill any more is because of riley and the other commandos putting the chip in his head to make sure he can't hurt a living soul.
It has to be Spike. Buffy and spike are a lot alike and they love each other as individals. They accept eachother for better or worse which is something Riley coundn't do.

i didnt know who to choose because i love them both...
but i ended up voting for angel because spike did try to rape her and i do remember that beautiful but sad song they used to play for buffy and angel.....
