Issue:

Tata Motors today took the covers off the world’s cheapest car — the Nano. 

The Tata Nano could sell for around $2,500. Higher level models will cost more and come with air-conditioning. Sun visors and radios are extra.

Belief:

The four-door Nano is a little over 10 feet long and nearly 5 feet wide. It is powered by a 623cc two-cylinder engine at the back of the car. With 33 horsepower, the Nano is capable of 65 miles an hour. Its four small wheels are at the absolute corners of the car to improve handling. There is a small trunk, big enough for a duffel bag.

The Nano will go on sale in India later this year with an initial production run of 250,000 a year. Tata says it will offer the Nano in other emerging markets in Latin America, Southeast Asia and Africa within four years.

i live in the desert and would be glad to test one here in southwest texas, i have been here so long that i don't use my a/c anymore. gets about 115 in the hot part of the day. good place to test one out.

Come on this would help a lot of people. Cars are so expensive and gas is so expensive I think this is the way to go. Where can I get one? I've seen a lot of people that can't afford a car, but buy it anyway. There are a lot of people in debt for cars. Sell that Tata Nano people have no reason to be in debt for cars.

Its a great idea, but with all the HUGH trucks and cars on the road, it's a death machine. All accidents would be fatal in this tiny sucker, so thanks but no.

holy cow! why the f don't americans drive smaller cars? especially when gas is so expensive and so polluting. they alow people to ride motorcylces on the highway: how could any car be any less safe? the fat bastards who run the oil company won't allow it. that is the only reason we don't have anything like this yet!

I have been to several sites concerning the Nano and have posted several comments on this subject and belive me the concensus is that 99 percent of people given the choice are saying they would buy this car. I fact the only negative comment I've seen was from Mary Beth.. the moron below who commented at this site.

I would deffinatly buy this car! I would buy 2 if I could. If American auto makers made a care like this I would have gladly bought one. But they will probably make it impossible to buy a Nano, at least not at the price sold in India!!

i love the nano car its so practical.. it would be good inversion for teenagers that are starting to learn how to drive.... also who doesnt want a acar that would take u places fopr 2 weeks with only $30..thats awesome!

WE NEED TO TRY SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN THE UNITED STATES. THEN WE WOULD NOT NEED AS MUCH FOREIGN OIL.

I would also love a Nano however who knows how long it could take to get over here. The problem could be since it is basically made in the middle east area of the world. By sending it here they would be contradicting themselves since most our oil comes from them. So yeah we would by their car but they would lose money in oil since we wouldnt need as much if everyone had one of these babys.

I WOULD BUY THIS CAR TODAY if it was in the US. They should HURRY and get it over here, this is the solution to beat the Gauging oil companies and CRAZY car insurance rates. Having this car would be the big "F*$& YOU!" to both of them!
