Help Find Steve Fossett775 Pledges
Description:Issue: STEVE FOSSETT HAS BEEN FOUND. THANK YOU EVERYONE! YOUCHOOSE.NET OFFERS A $10,000 REWARD TO THE FIRST YOUCHOOSE MEMBER WHO PROVIDES INFORMATION LEADING TO THE RESCUE OF STEVE FOSSETT. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! PLEASE READ ON: On Monday, September 3, 2007, Steve Fossett, the first person to fly a plane solo around the world without refueling and the first person to fly around the world in a balloon went missing in Nevada. An airplane he was flying failed to return. No one has any idea where he is. Through the generous efforts of individuals at several organizations, detailed satellite imagery has been made available for his last known whereabouts. Belief:I believe that if we each take a little time looking at the satellite images and marking those that may have signs of Fossett in them, we could find him or determine what happened to him.

In the old satellite image dont apeared: look
38 º 52´ 30.81" N
119º 21´ 48.56" w
Google Earth
38 52 30.81-119 21 48.56
Google Maps (Old image)

It looks like a rock formation to me. It is on the old image also.
Did Fossett's plane have a 32 foot wingspan? check out 38°16'48.42"N 119°32'9.53"W
You can easily measure a persons character by observing how they treat someone who can do nothing for them.
I found the plane shape you are refering to. I also found it on the old/pre-Fossett layer so it can't be him. On the older image it doesn't look as much like a plane as it does on the newer image, almost like a big log. Good work though.
I couldn't get the image tool to work. I put the file here. I dont see this shape on the pre Fossett photos but there is a tree down. This is probably an optical illusion.

I know I am a novice but I am really trying and I am really working hard to help so please tolerate me a little as I fumble my way through this.
This looks like a wreckage but I don't know how to toggle between the old map and the new so I only see this on the new. The coordinates are as follows;
38.384171,-119.776382
38°24'2.79"N
119°47'15.9 6"W
Thank you
Lynnette
Thank you all so much for the information.
What I found above does not appear on the old map but the foliage is denser so it may have been hidden. I looked really closely but could not find any signs of any of it through the openings between trees on the old map.
If you are searching within the new images areas, you can use the slideswitch at the bottom of "Sidebar/Places" to vary the opacity of the new image, effectively switching between old and new. In "Places", select the KML file (new image area) of interest; then the slideswitch works for that selected KML overlay. Or you can simply click the related checkmark on and off. The new image areas can be seen by backing out to a high eye altitude."
How far do we need to back out when shifting from New to Old? I am trying to get this to work so I don't waste anyone'se time with images that were there prior to SF going missing.
coordinates that work

I assumed buildings but the images are too fuzzy. I also looked for roads or a way to get the buildings there and found none. Doesn't look like a plane though.

Check this out. 39"19'05.63N 119"33'10.00W Something there but I can't tell what it is.

This is the other siting I mentioned in the comment below. This site looks more like a damaged plane than a complete one. I suspect this one is already known as it is more in the open and easier to see.

Coordinates: 38°43'29.07"N 118°51'43.60"W
In the previous message I meant to write "Flying M Ranch" not Flying D ranch but couldn't correct it.CREDIBLE SITING. I have uploaded 5 Google Earth screenshots to Flickr. One gives an overview of the site in relation to the Flying D Ranch. The others are different angles showing the aircraft intact on a slope with maybe a wing or the tail resting on a tree. The Amazon Turk KML overlay file has been used. Coordinates: 38°43'02.10"N 118°49'23.99"W
The aircraft is the white mark just below the yellow pin. The square box on the images is a note-box.

Use the "See Larger Sizes" link in the right menu to get the full-size view.
I have another set of a different site which is close by, but is more likely to be a known site since it is more in the open. I will post that set of images within the next couple of hours just in case ...
Here's the correct link info,
http://s3.amazonaws.com/F ossett-DG-BW/Regionated_DG_2/index.kml a>
This link automatically opens up my Google Earth software
In my previous comment I omitted the dot after the number 3
Located what looks like a small plane resting at an angle which I viewed on the link
http://s3amazonaws.com/Fo ssett-DG-BW/Regionated_DG_2/index.kml
co-ordinates are 38 degrees 00'40.46N / 118 degrees 35'06.69W
Also if you look carefully just a short distance NNW of the object I see what looks like a large letter "P" and next to it what maybe the bottom portion of the letter "L".
Please investigate and forward to the search team if it's a possibility. Thanks
NOW TAKE A LOOK A THIS:
38°29'54.04"N 119°24'29.41"W
Thanks, I will try the terrain function to determine flatness.
The four KML links I know of are (9/19/07):
http://s3.amazonaws.com/f ossett/geoeye-color.kml
http://s3.amazonaws.com/F ossett-DG-BW/Regionated_DG_2/index.kml a>< /span>
http://s3.amazona ws.com/Fossett-DG/DG/index.kml
http://s3.amazonaws.com/F ossett-GE-3/Geo_Eye_3/index.kml.
Are there any others?
The last KML link defines two image areas.
It is a waste of time to search outside of MTurk KML areas; older images will not show Fossetts plane.
