Congratulations to the Canadian National Post newspaper and journalist Murray Teitel for an excellent job in writing and publishing the following story via the link below. It makes a nice change to read an intelligent piece of Canadian journalism.
How about cod...nobody protested the actions of the fleets of foreign draggers off our coast raping the ocean of cod and other species...but they're not cute, furry, cuddly little creatures....so they probably wouldn't make any money for the hypocrites.
It's not ok to murder / slaughter baby seals... they are adorable, defenseless, and feel pain and fear like you or I... on the other hand... those ugly pigs... feed their ears to the dogs... they smell like poopie
Here's a very simple question that no one has even attempted to answer... why is it okay to kill some organisms as opposed to others. For example, is it okay to kill a chicken but not a seal? I challenge anyone to give a logical argument backed up by something more than emotion and propeganda.
Well I don't know about anyone else but I don't think any violence or killing of cretures is okay. It's wrong, horrible, and immoral. I don't kill chickens and I feel that if I am a vegitarian I can show that I don't support the killing of them.
And it's well within your rights to feel that way. But...why is it that Atlantic Canada (Newfoundland in particular) is being singled out as a bunch of sadistic, bloodthirsty barbarians? If you truly knew Newfoundlanders, you would find that they are a good, kind, charitable, fun-loving people...and are NOTHING like the murderers that the animal rights groups (such as greenpeace) would have you believe.
...smarten up and listen to what you're saying...is the seal hunt wrong because seals are cute? The problem with opinions is that even idiots have them. A seal is cure therefore it's cruel to hunt them... cattle, moose, rabbit...oops their cute... Are you against the “murder” of poor little bunnies???
I'm ashamed to see my country on this list Deborah K. Good luck on your petition and thanks for printing the link above. I saw how my fellow countrymen treated you on the other board. I'm glad to see you are keeping up the good fight.

Hey no problem Wesley and sorry to hear you have been banned. I see how the people they support treat seals so I expect nothing less from them. I also saw how a group of sealers attacked the Sea Shepherd ship the 'Farley Mowat' and left it to drift dangerously, obviously not concerned about the welfare of others in the area. That act of unprovoked aggression will not have done their cause any good in the eyes of the EU and the rest of the world.
Not to worry though because something else will soon be banned. If the EU doesn't ban all seal products, which is unlikely, then the individual countries soon will. Some have already banned imports, some have suspended imports and some are making plans to ban them. Also, it looks like the market for seal pelts is declining. In 2006 a seal pelt was worth about $105, in 2007 it was worth about $52 and this year it's worth from $6 - $33. It would hardly be worth dragging ones sorry arse out of bed for that miniscule amount of money I would imagine. It really looks like their days are numbered. Slowly but surely the world, in its wisdom, is waking up to the sealers and sealing will become a distant memory, just like commercial whaling, which was banned in 1986.
These heartless basta*ds need to be stopped. They will not be happy until this world is just humans, rodents and insects. They are killing everything else. Please visit defendersof wildlife.org. Please inform them of this situation. Also Greenpeace.
greenpeace, ifaw, the humane society, and sea shepherd are ONLY in it for the MONEY. They get more donations in the spring because of the seal hunt than all the rest of the year put together. Also...if someone had the resources to do a little digging, I bet they'd find out that the videos they keep releasing are fully produced and acted by members of animal rights groups, just to sucker people into donating.
THEY SHOULD BE KILLED THEMSELVES.

So you don't eat ice cream, drink soft drinks, have any processed foods, use makeup, have ever had prescription drugs, use ink, etc...??
