I looked at some images of Muhammad and thought for the most part they were respectfully done, like some images of Jesus. Neither are meant to offend only inform. If there are negative comments, chances are they come from uninformed people who are afraid of things they don't understand. Since most of the comments of the creator of this petition can no longer be read, I'm not sure exactly what they are getting at. However, there are some
truisms that I'm certain apply to this situation.
(1) The truth is its own defense.
(2) In countries with freedom of speech, no one has
the right not to be offended.
(3) People of any religious conviction need to come to
terms with the fact that their religious taboos
cannot be applied to others outside that
particular faith.
(4) Those who seriously believe that their religious
taboos should be recognized by all outsiders (and
who are troubled beyond endurance when this is
not practiced) should for their peace of mind
and public safety contemplate emmigrating to a
nation that considers it important to
prohibit freedom of speech in order to enforce the
religious taboos of that particular faith.
(5) Those who appreciate living in a country with
democratic government and rights such as freedom
of speech need for the sake of peace and harmony
to seize and desist from trying to force their
religious taboos on others.

Here's something to pause and reflect about. The second worst terrorist attack in our history was also committed by an exetremist between the age of 17 and 40. April 19, 1995!! Oklahoma City. Unfortunately for people who think there is some specific link between Islam and religious violence, Timothy McVeigh was a very devout Christian. So I ask you, is Islam the enemy or religious exetremism in general. Being a student of religious studies, I would have to vote for the latter. I would hope people like Amy W. pause and reflect about that, but their ears are shut. I've got a prayer for you...that our grandchildren never have to live in the same atmosphere of intolerance and fear that we have built around ourselves with regards to religion. That they will never have to think in terms of "us and them." But without action now, this cannot happen. The picture should be removed.
the pictures should be removed because if someone put up pictures that insulted Jesus or Christianity you guys would be screaming for them to be removed. The other problem is the fact that other religions will not make insulting comics involving Jesus because they almost all feel he was a good person and teacher.(most do not think he was anything more than a normal human) If we are going to talk about what religions have caused more people to get killed Christianity would have to be number one on the list. (Spanish Inquisition & The Crusades). The laws in the united states do not prevent anyone from praying in school all they stop is students from being forced to pray or have others religious ideals forced on them. The ten commandments should not be in any government locations because the commandments are part of just a few religions and should not be forced on people that don't believe in them.

Is this still an issue or an opportunity for bigots of the world to proclaim that their religion and god is better than others? Simple solution, if the picture (anyway, these images are imagination only as camera was not invented then) offend you, do not look at them. Since you are a true believer in your religion and power of your great god (or whatever you call him), the people who do bad things against your religion will be taken care by your god by burning them in hellfire for eternity. So why worry? Live in peace, bros and sisters . Let the baddies pay the price when they die and let them do whatever they want while they are here!!!

Yeah that would be great if the christians in this country were givin the same respect. Our children arn't allowed to pray in school or at school related functions,graduations etc. Least we upset someone. We cant hang the ten commandments in a state or federal courthouse or office anymore. Rules that God set forth for use to have laws on the land that make pretty god sense like thou shalt not kill, steal, etc. but we should just chill out and let everybody else have freedom of religon while we sit back and loose our right to freedom of expression but it's a free for all for everybody else why dont everybody else chill out and let us have our freedom if it's no big deal?????

all religions are silly, everyone hates everyone else. my God can kick your Gods butt. No one is exactly 100% sure that their religion is the right one. what ever happen to compassion for others. AND I expect all the faithful to respect my and other's right of free expression. Is that asking too much in 21st century?
Kabule, you forget we live in America. The idea of respecting another person's ideas and feelings might as well be thrown out the window and be used to clean up the glass. People in America(And in alot of other countries, mostly dictator societies and anarchies.) want to control as much as they can. They try to hard to control instead of going with the flow. This is why I've lost all hope for humanity(Or at least Americans.).
