There is a campaign going on for this issue - Check it out

I still don't understand why the Sponsor of this petition is not submitting it to appropriate authorities? We muslims have had to swallow much insult even in this forum. No more please.

I as a muslim strongly condemn these acts of blasphemy against our Prophet Muhammad[SAW]...I respect other religions n I've faith n respect for all Prophets sent by GOD...These so-called civilizations should think over this sensitive issue of hurting the feelings of souls of other religion...
I'll conclude"Stop it...otherwise results would be dangerous"....Respect others if u want to b respected...Government of this country should take n action on it...freedom doesnt mean crossing the limits of humanity...

Might I enquire as to what actions you plan to take??? And why would they be dangerous? How should I take that statement?

Eric M- by your logic...go call a random African-American the N-word and see how far your "freedom of speech" takes you.

that is not freedom of speech, that's personal insult. plus, that's a racist comment, and that is AGAINST THE LAW. There is a difference here. the constitution supports freedom of speech, seperation of religion from politics and education, not racism. this is a religious issue, not one of race. I'm not treating it like that and would appreciate it if next time you used a relevent argument.

And drawing our Prophet isn't an insult? This is definitely a relevent arguement. When something is forbidden in someone's belief/culture whatever it maybe and yet some idiots went on doing something that is against our beliefs....that's an insult to me. Just as bad as someone calling an Afro-American the N-word. We're talking about people's feelings here. So YES it is relevant.

an insult to you it may be, however, if it helps to spread a message of peace by depicting the "leader" of a preaceful religion, perhaps it may be used to the advantage of islam. Besides, isn't there an actual description of the Prophet within the Qu'ran? Don't you think about what He may look like at all??? Or do you blindly worship an omnipotent figure because you're told to? (and that is not meant personally or as an insult, merely a question) And once again, this is an issue of religion, not law, which forbids racism, so using an example such as the aforementioned is entirely irrelevant. By your logic, go and tell a Chrisian that their depiction of Christ is wrong. If the picture is drawn not out of maliciousness, is ordering the removal of it not obstructing their freedom of expression???
*~think independantly, and for the future~*

An insult to Islam. Qur'an does not describe the Prophet's (saws) physical features. He is only known about his attributes and examples. Of course I think about what he looks like but how he looks is of no importance. There's a reason why we don't depicting the Holy Prophets. Insult can happen in race and religion. Especially in this case. This was an insult. I'd excuse the artist if they're ignorant but they knew better not to depict the Prophet(saws)and they still went on with it.

and as a PS, if a devout follower does depict Prophet Muhammed, is he a blasphemer for showing respect??? can one not be filled with such reverence that he/she is compelled to express that reverence through art? And is Art not the language of the soul??? who is the judge and jury then???
*~think independantly, and for the future~*

Art is not only expressed through pictures. And as educated as you sound, I think you know that. So I'll save the details. If a "devout" follower draws a picture of Prophet Muhammad (saws), then they should know better not to draw the picture in the first place. Otherwise the person wouldn't be a devout follower.Especially when Islam forbids it...?

the funniest thing about all of this, is that none of you are looking at it from any other point of view. Only about how it concerns yourselves. None of you have provided any valid LEGAL reason to remove the picture, and to that I hold. besides, how someone expresses their religion is their own right, and unfortunately, there isn't really much that you can do. Besides if how Prophet Muhammed looks is of no importance, then why is it that it's against the religion??? As long as you are not worshipping the figure or depiction, why is it against the religion??? Just because someone tells you not to do something because they say so is no valid reason.

You just don't get it. It's not "someone" telling us no, it's God (ALLAHswt). That's our beliefs. You might not see it since you don't believe in it but atleast try to understand that it is against our beliefs to depict Nabi Muhammad (saws). There's a two differences in our discussion, you're expressing your opinion and I'm expressing our beliefs.

i understand it's your beliefs, and i'm not trying to change your method of thinking, or your belief system. all im saying is that the freedom of expression is universal. i am not saying that you shouldn't express your religion, that's fine, i support freedom of expression in all of it's forms, all im saying is that: the point of religion is to learn to forgive and turn the other cheek, do unto others as they would have them do unto you (the golden rule) and to respect each other. I respect islam, and i respect the constitution (the commandments of a country, if you will) and i think that if the person who has done these drawings is not muslim, then they should be forgiven and that it should not be held against them because of their lack of religious knowledge. If wikipedia doesn't take down the picture, don't visit wikipedia. If the Dutch don't reverse their views, don't buy their products. You don't HAVE to look, nor do you HAVE to support the Dutch. But you MUST respect the universal right to freedom of expression. No one is denying you the right to practice your religion, and I condemn the places that are, it's wrong. Use your religious tolerance and respect that not everyone is going to agree with your views on religion, and use your religion to cope with it.

I can agree with you to certain extent. As Muslims we do forgive. We excuse people if they are ignorant of our beliefs. It shouldn't disturb us in any way but this Dutch artist did it to antagonize us. This is the second time they've done this to us. The artists intention was to insult us, not to express freedom of speech or expression. The first time, I let it go but the second time, I'm protesting.

I agree with Eric Z. If they don't remove the pic, then boycott Danish products. It's simple. They're only hurting themselves.

REMOVE THE PIC

Don't remove the pictures, they are glorious to look at, please leave them posted, DON'T REMOVE, DON'T REMOVE.

no,you have the right to declare that the picture be removed, and we have as much right to declare that it remain there.
*~think independantly, and for the future~*

Some tend to think that they have won the war on the right to insult others.

I think that we finally have some sense on this discussion... thank you to all those who support FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!! It's my right, and I'm excersising it.
*~think independantly, and for the future~*

i do support freedom of speech , i dont like any muslim who has been bad mouthing ... but u keeep saying that dont make it personal...it is and we cant stop

then try to do your best. of course it's going to be a bit more personal for you than anyone else. I admit that I can see it in a more "black-and-white" way, but that is most likely because I'm not muslim. Try to look at this issue in a legal, and purely legal way. Has anyone broken the law? Have they blatently promoted hate or violence towards muslims? If they haven't, then defy it in your own way. Show that YOU are not going to support them. Money makes the world go around, there is no way about it anymore. Try to look at it from a business perspective. if it educates rather than alienates, maybe it is a better way to spread the religion. Figures of power or leaders inspire those around them. idolitary is frowned upon in all of the monotheistic religions, but perhaps instead of threats and violent protests, maybe something like this petition, or a boycott of certain products or services would be more effective. I'm no fool, I understand that I am of the minority on this group, and that there is no section for those that agree with the posting. Now, if the pic is insulting (ie: pornographic in nature, or violent), then i would support the removal of a HATEFUL picture. However, if the picture is done respectfully and is drawn by an unbiased hand, is it really worth all this debate and attention??? Perhaps it's time to pick the battles you know that you can win, and to let the small things go.
*~think independantly, and for the future~*

its called freedom of speech and we all have our own opinions if u dont like it THEN LEAVE AMERICA

Please kindly let the picture there. What is the problem? It is "official" and who dont want to see it, shall not look.

Please remove the pic. If you wish and accede to your own religion to be insulted and mocked upon, that's your choice but don't insult our religion because YOU deem it's ok. For your rights to be respected, you need to respect other people's rights first.

All photos, books, magazine articles, TV shows, speeches, tapes, CD's, historical paintings, drawings of 'whats-his-name' should be removed from every media in the world. That way, no one would be offended and the rest of the world could finally rest. Plus, we wouldnt have to listen to Muslims constantly whinning about this issue.

plz kindly remove the pic.
