Um, it's not even about Christianity it's about Catholicism. Maybe Christians should do a little more research before they get offended by something that's not even targeted at them. Also, it wasn't even written with that intent.. You know the saying art mimics life.. Wow zealots they are never without a cause no matter how trivial.
I dont see why people should sign a petition to stop people from watching a movie thats supposedly against god. People shouldnt take away the movie for the sake of christians. What about the people that LIKE the book and want to watch the movie, or arent christian? Although I have to say the movie was quite crap. PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT. Free world, if you didnt know that.

let me get this straight.... Christians can critizise and put down other faiths, but get offened if they get the same back at them? I read the books to my kids and have the movie just to spite them.

what is wrong with having movies and books against religion? most christians in this world always want to cut down atheist and non christians thinking they are so much better than every one else. there is no proof that any god of any religion is real. what is the point in believeing in someting when theres no proof of its existance? beliveing in god is like believing in the easter bunny or santa clause every one knows they dont exist
Well, I'm not trying to sound rude, and I'm not saying that everyone doesn't or can't have their own beliefs/religion. To each their own. We will see in the end who is right. As for my family, we are christians. We are raising our child, and will continue to raise our child(ren) as christians. And I'm sorry, but we don't watch anything that attacks or criticizes our faith. And a movie about killing GOD our Father? I don't think so. Not that GOD CAN be killed, but it's just the point.
Apart of incorrectly including Kevin Bacon, who wasn't in this film, as part of the cast, I have to agree with what you're saying. While some find this sacrilegious and others find it bland, the rest, such as myself, find it boring. And, as JoJo's character, Cassie Munro says in her film "RV", "I can throw up from how bored I am."
I think the movie was pretty good...Daniel Craig and Sam Elliott...not a bad cast......but i must say the language on this forum is distgusting....can't you converse without cursing or all you all so feeble minded that you can't find a another word to describe your feelings.
i read the book and when i heard they were makin a movie i was so excited...then when i saw who thy picked and such is got poed...then when i saw the movie i was tottaly **** pissed off i hated it so fucken much i yelled at every1 who said it was good until 2 months later

so i read further down, and to everyone, paretns should read the books first. though my personal opinion is an aversion to the books and the idea, and i get this campaigns goal, but parents can make the decisions for themselves. sure get the word out, i have a friend who read the books before she would let her children read them or see the movie.
WOW are you serious? Look people these books were written a long time ago, my father read them and passed them down to me. I'm all about a good story and I get to decide what I want after the book is over. That doesn't mean it's not a good book or movie. Children should have the right to decide what they want to watch and read, and if parents are so worried about this movie read the **** book yourself. Make the educated decision and understand like Ida H said give them more **** credit. Retarded christian people thinking everything is a attack..this is a attack..open your minds already.

while i agree with you on most things, you dont have to be so angry. and secondly, the books were written in the 1990's. That isnt quite "a long time ago". Not having a strong grasp of the facts is just what makes me mad about people boycotting the movie/books - so don't be guilty of the same thing. and attacking the other side doesn't make rational people look any better. all you are doing is sinking to the same level. very hypocritical.
I'm Christian and still went to see the first movie. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not because it's supposedly anti-God, but because it simply wasn't a well done movie. The plot skips around too often. They failed to showcase the talents of Kidman and Craig. Even with the perfect young actress for the lead role, the movie just wasn't very good.
How narrowminded.. Broaden your vision people! It's a movie designed to make people think about their world, their lives and their beliefs. If you truly believe you won't be swayed by a movie.. Besides that, shouldn't your kids have the right to choose their own beliefs? Children can handle a lot more than you give them credit for.
I'm an atheist, but that doesn't mean that I don't live by the christian rules. It's just common sense. And frankly, if you need a book to tell you how to live and are afraid of a movie, you need to get out and live a little.

I realy do not why so much noise with this movie, the novel is 10 times better, this a mediocre movie any ways, full of bad acting and a plot that never takes off, that differs a lot from what is seen in the book, if you want a good adaptations of a book see lord of the rings, interview with a vampire, dracula, American Psycho, doctor zhivago avoid Harry potter, da vinci code and queen of the dawn at all cost, excellent books really bad movies, and the "killing God" part was avoid on this movie, if may be mentioned onces in a really soft way, not using the words killing, or God in the movie, "the Authority" the way God is call in this movie is not even mentioned that much, so what is all the noise, the da vinci code by far was more controversial than this, please this movie simply sucks, I cannot belive it wont an oscar (only for special effects, still I do think Transformers was far superior than this movie in special effect and everything)
