I wanted to let everyone know how appreciative the people I've talked with on the search team in Nevada and at Amazon's Mechanical Turk are about the efforts you are all making. Here's part of an email I just received from Amazon in response to my asking them about any new images they might have for us outside the original search area: Mike --
I don't have any information about the specific search areas being covered. When Google receives imagery from satellite providers, they procss it. When we receive data from Google Earth we make it available as HITs.
With respect to KMLs, we encourage participants to review the HITs primarily since each lead submitted via a HIT is automatically processed and fed to searchers as a result. Manual submissions, in contrast, must be filtered out of e-mails, blog postings, forum postings and take much longer to process.
As I get more information, I will be sure to make it available to you and your members. We truly appreciate your efforts and contributions.
Thanks for everything
