There are plenty of darn good reasons to boycott the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

This rumor which has been started by the Catholic News Agency is somewhat true, and somewhat not. According to the official 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing website, spectators may bring no more than 1 Bible personally belonging to them with them.

 It has proved impossible to find a copy of the actually sheet given to the athletes, which was Catholic News Agency's original claim.

 In an article addressing this issue on Reuters.com, Ye Xiaowen, Director General of the State Administration for Religious Affairs stated that Beijing would actually be holding religious services for those foreigners who wish to attend.

 Beijing is also in negotiation with the Vatican to open ties between them.

Ye stated that China does not PROHIBIT the printing and sale of Bibles. However, Bibles are only distributed through churches, and not sold in stores, to ease the prices of illegal underground distributors.

However, it is fairly widely known that organ harvesters routinely target underground Catholics in China, although it's also fairly accepted that there are more Christians in China than there are in the United States of America, just for their sheer numbers.

 China is in close ties with Sudan, investing in 40% of the oil produced in Sudan, which is why China refuses to pressure Sudan's leaders into a cease-fire agreement to prevent genocide in Darfur, where hundreds of thousands have already been murdered, left for dead, or are not living homeless, starved and hunted.

When China bid for the 2008 Olympics, they argued that with the world's eyes on them, they would have to make great strides in Human Rights. However, it has become more and more apparent that by winning venue for the 2008 Summer Olympics it has only empowered them, made them more headstrong, defiant and confident.

I refuse to support a country that is so controlled by greed for money, and so contemptuous about human life!

I will still boycott the 2008 Summer Olympics. I will still refuse to fuel my vehicles from a company who knowingly conducts business with murderers. I will still stand my ground and ask the same action from my fellow citizens. 

When the 2008 Summer Olympics are still broadcast, I will be silent, head bowed, in prayer or in the Word.
