I have to say I'm pretty cheesed-off that GCap Media have decided to pull the plug on Planet Rock.

Planet Rock, since it's launch, has been one of "the" DAB radio stations that has given the masses what it wanted  - adult rock music - which is sadly lacking on FM, due to the power of the so-called "charts"....so without Planet Rock, we will have only a few hours of decent rock music being played and even that will be on "local" radio stations, if we're lucky. OK, so what about "national" coverage of rock music - the BBC don't really care (and since the late great John Peel died, they care even less) - which leaves Virgin.....!

Some DAB muliplexes have given us stations like "The Storm" (now closed?) "The Arrow" and even "KERRANG!" but these don't quite have the same "integrity" (no disrespect!) that Planet Rock has built up.

Hopefully, the name and "ethos" of Planet Rock will survive somehow - the UK will (IMHO) be a worse place if it closes down completely....
