Days Gets Renewed for 18 months! There has been much fretting by Days fans as the future of the show hung in limbo. Things looked particularly grim when people close to the show began saying that the end was in sight. However, it was announced last week that NBC had come to an agreement with Sony Pictures Television. The agreement will keep Days on the air until at least September 2010. Apparently the agreement also stipulates that if certain requirements are met, the show may be extended until September, 2011. There's no buzz on what those requirements are, but my guess would be ratings and budgets. Just like the economy of the US right now is in a downturn, many networks are facing budgetary concerns that affect the daytime soaps. NBC has already taken most of their soaps off the air. This short renewal contract could mean that NBC's long-term plans don't include Days. Just this month, the show celebrated it's 43rd anniversary, making it the longest running soap in TV history. This coming January, Days will become the fourth ever show to air 11,000 episodes. So keep those ratings up and keep watching Days. Sign the campaign to keep Days of Our Lives on the air past 2010!
Moonlight Gala Pictures and Blood Drive Results! The Moonlight blood drives are sadly coming to an end. Just one blood drive left. This all started back in February when a member put up a campaign to do a blood drive to save Moonlight. I called CBS and let them know about it, who called Warner Brothers and they thought it was great. The Red Cross got on board. Fans from all over the states, Canada, Australia, the UK, well, from ALL over started donating blood the week the show returned in April and are still donating. Alex O'Loughlin attended the drive that week in LA (remember I was supposed to go but I got pneumonia so I didn't get to meet him, ****), and then he did that Public Service Announcement for the Red Cross. All because of you guys. Then came the summer drives supported by Trevor Munson, Jason Dohring, and ending with Smantha's bake sale and Nikki's Gala with Jason, Brian White and Jordan Belfi attending. How cool is that! I'd estimate that the blood you guys donated saved approximately 4,000 lives, and I know the first week alone $3,000 dollars was raised. Claudia's International Donation Day on Spetember 28th raised $7,160 so that's over $10,000 people. And that is just what was reported back to me. You've raised and saved more than that. The Red Cross is so appreciative. Snaps to Elizabeth for her dedication to this project. She and I spoke everyday about that was upcoming and what needed to be done. I would also like to send big thank you's out to the others that helped out such as Gretchen, Gloria, Nikki, Samantha, Melissa, Barbara, Tracy, Ashley, Rhea, Peggy, Pat, Kim. I spoke to so many people, I apologize for those I may have missed. You've all been great. It's a shame we couldn't save the show. We can still hope for a Moonlight Movie though. Pictures have been posted of all the events in the Learn More Pages of the past year if you want to live vicariously through the lucky folks that got to participate.

Dollhouse Receives the Time Slot of DeathDollhouse, Joss Whedon's latest show, has survived two production pauses but may still be in jeopardy. The premiere has been moved to the notorious "death slot" on Fox. Rumors originally had the show premiering on Mondays after 24. It was announced recently that the show will premiere on Friday, February 13 at 9 pm. All 13 episodes of the season will follow in the same Friday night slot. This time is not popular with Wedon fans because it's the same time slot given to Firefly, and we all know how well that worked out! Fox' scheduler Preston Beckman tried to defend the decision by explaining if it didn't do well in a Monday night time slot, they might have to pull it off the air. But becuase Fox feels that the scheduling around the Friday night spot is solid enough, they can give the show more air time to find it's audience. Though Beckman's logic might be sound, fans still have their concerns. Some networks spend less money on advertising the Friday night slots. One fan points out that it's now in competition with Clone Wars on Cartoon Network and whatever is going to fill the Startgate Atlantis void over on Sci-Fi. Another big issue is that online views (whether leagal or otherwise) do not contribute to a show's ratings. So it seems the answer is all up to the fans. It's going to depend on it the show gets the ratings it needs for it to be worth Fox's while to keep it on the air. Talk to other Whedon fans here and tell all your friends to watch next February!
Project Recycle MeWhen I saw that Rebecca had put up this campaign, I thought it's a no brainer. Who wouldn't sign this? Get McDonald's to use recycle bins. I can't believe they don't now.
Truth be told, Subway is the only fast food joint that is "green" right now. Can you believe it? Fast food places say it's too expensive to recycle.
That's been kept pretty quiet. Well, until now. Rebecca's goal is to make enough noise to get recycle bins at these joints.
Thanks for your help everyone,
Rebecca & Mary Beth
