WAY harsher laws are needed, I agree. But why is it everyone seems to blame the government for the masses actions? I currently co-own The Second Chance Ranch, a rescue facility in S/E Arizona. I was also an animal control officer and a vet assistant. You don't know how many times I heard a person admit to knowing their neighbor/friend/family member was abusive to their pets, but never said a word!
I say bring back vigilantism! Catch someone being neglectful, abusive? Let them know YOU know! If YOU won't step up, don't hold the government accountable!
Also, statistics show if most people are abusive to animals, family members are or will be abused in the future.
I agree it needs to stop, but I'm not signing - it's up to US to stop it!

Animals have no way to get help when they are abused. The only voice they have is ours. I think if anyone is caught abusing any animal they should loose their right to be around or own an animal. I believe their is no such thing as a bad animal their are just bad owners.

Well i do not and here is why. Animal abuse is very,very wrong. Animals are put on the earth to love,cherish ,and to treat with respect. Everyday animals are killed or severly injured by someone who has either gotten mad at them or has just done it to be to be cruil.For an example, if you were an animal and a bad owner bought you for your skin and skinned you alive how would you feel . Like in the poem I read called Point Of View before you do something that you dont think is write like animal abuse think of how the animal would feel look at the animals point of view.                                                                                                                                                      

i think it is time our goverment pays attention this is a growing problem. my daughter who is eleven is doing a poster and article for 4-h about this every thing. she is fighting to try to make the laws tuffer on this and they real need to be.

Perhaps if people were more responsible it wouldn't be a problem. Let's face it if you can't afford medical costs for your pet, don't have a pet! It's a lovely idea to have a puppy for little Johnny or a kitten for little Susie, but they can learn about life and being responsible for a living creature from owning a plant. Not as cute, but much cheaper.

I agree. When will the government stop cruetly to our animals

 There are programs available for low income persons to acquire medical assistance for their pets. Some have no income requirements if I remember correctly but there are guidelines. I have no idea under which pile on my desk the information is but I found it by searching the internet. If I'm not mistaken there were five or six organizations available. There are also many non-profit/rescue groups which offer a great deal of help as well. Also the loan program that every clinic seems to have brochures for but the cost of treatment has to be above a certain amount and I think the payback is three months with a very high interest rate.The animals aren't forgotten, it just takes patience in finding help for them, it's out there. Insurance is ridiculous for pets, that I would definately like to see changed and with different options like for those who foster animals or rescue etc.   Just my two cents so flame away if you like but please do so via email so things here remain positive.
