It is now February, in the next month here in Canada seals have their pups on large sheets of ice that are starting to break up on Canada's Eastern Seabord and the Gulf of the St Lawrence. Many people think the baby seal hunt has been shut down. But it has been reopened. Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans blames the dissapearence of codfish from the Grand Banks because of the the seal hunt ban. They say the ban on the seal hunt allowed the seal population to grow and the more seals, the more codfish eaten by seals. When John Cabot first came to Canada he reported that the cod were so plentiful that the ship was sailing through an ocean of cod and a basket lowered down over the side would come back filled with codfish. It's not the seal's fault that the cod has disappeared from the Grand Banks. There is no reason to club a baby seal that is less than a month to death except for the fact that is when their pelts are the highest quality. fur is not at all fashionable if i see any animals fur it makes me upset and gag to think that the poor animal was killed for its fur id rather go naked than wear any animals fur its horrible that these adorable creatures r being killed so people can attempt to make a fashion statement

Having read most of the comments I believe that no matter what, killing any animal for nothing more than their fur is not fashionable. I'd like to know honestly how many people could actually kill and clean what they've killed. Seals are not fighters, and anybody that could actually condone that deseves to be tortured.

baby seals are cute and adorable. No animal should have to be killed! How could we trust humans if they have an sick mind and careless hearts.

baby seals are cute and inocent they shoud not be killed...its cruel and insesitive...the fact that humans are doing this is treacherous...it hurts me to say this but i f**kin hate us humans sometimes. is horrid atrousous and plain cruel. i like being me as much as any human but some peple shouldnt be alive or at least have a different attitude.

if they like killing this animals that has big brown eyes and look sweet. Then why dont they go to hospital or school and hit the babies or kids. they cant cause its against the law and etc. Then we need a law to protect this babies

The fact that any human being with a heart and conscious could look one of these precious, innocent babies in the eyes and kill them in such a horrific manner, or at all is beyond me. It makes me sick and I think we should do the same to the human animals that kill these baby seals. We have to do all we can to help save these precious babies!

My name is Loren, and I want to join this campaign because I've seen videos of what's done to the baby seals and it angers me so badly. There are so many great causes that need help, but I just wanted to ask - what else can I do? Get my friends to join - should we send emails to Congress, or the particular countries involved in these issues? Please let me know what other actions I can take - I write very good emails and I can send out tons of them as long as I know the recipient. Thanks! Lumen Spirit

this type of killing breaks my heart instantly.
to think about makes me upset.

and mike c. thats so we can live and you can barley avoid treading on an ant. i swear they kill these seals for there skin?
we eat cow and chicken to survive, its what we were programmed to do. we werent programmed muderers.
